Lets admit it we are on fast track, everything we want has to be fast - so dating is no exception. Every now and then we come across something related to speed dating, gone are the days when we took time in the pleasure of approaching someone, introducing ourselves and asking them out for a date. Forget about the human touch, we are loosing our language - does this look familiar

If you would have shown this line to someone 10 years back - they would have asked, is it Morse's Code? Today a typical chat transcript looks like this. Eight years back when I came to US I realized the power of online chats - my work comprised of one window (work related) and 10 windows (chat related)... its amazing how I multi-tasked in those days, today I could hardly understand what my wife is saying while I am working.

Just when I was thinking I opened a Pandora's box of online dating I had my first encounter with the "cons of online dating". 24 female, hazel eyes, some extra baggage (she meant by weight) - wrote the profile. When I met her the first thought that came to my mind was, which word in English did I missed, for me 'extra' means 5 pounds, well for some it might be 150 pounds. Then I met this girl, beautiful, petite - just as she wrote in her profile. Then at the dinner table she went on a drinking binge that rose my tab to $160.00. Well not her fault, her profile wrote - Smoking & Drinking - Moderate.

It is found that 97.5 percent of the online daters were dishonest about at least one aspect of their profile, with women most likely to fib about age and weight while men often fudged their age and marital status. 60 percent of the men who stated they were single, separated or divorced still were married. This guy showed up to a date with a bandage wrapped around his ring finger. It turned out he was not hurt, he was married.

The next time you read a profile - 5 feet 8, blue eyes, slightly overweight, occasional smoker - remember, the meaning of the words 'slight' and 'occasional' might be slightly different than what you think.

Celebrity Spotlight - Beyonce Knowles

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles popularly known as Beyoncé, was born on September 4, 1981, to Mathew Knowles, a successful record manager, and Tina Beyoncé, a costume designer and hair stylist.

Knowles was schooled at St. Mary's Elementary School in Texas, where she enrolled in dance classes, including ballet and jazz. Her talent was discovered when her dance instructor began humming a song and she finished it, hitting the high-pitched notes. Although Knowles was a shy girl, her interest in music and performing began unexpectedly after joining in a school talent show. By age seven, Knowles had entered her first talent show, singing John Lennon's "Imagine". She won the contest and was honored with standing ovation.

In June 2003, after a series of commercial successes with the group, Beyoncé released her debut solo album, Dangerously In Love. The success of her solo albums has established her as one of the most marketable artists in the industry. However, she has also added acting and endorsement deals to her repertoire. In 2006, she starred alongside Steve Martin and Kevin Kline in the comedy The Pink Panther, and that same year, scored the main role in the film adaptation of the 1981 Broadway musical Dreamgirls, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

Divorce, Divorce, Divorce

Got your attention right, well this article is not about, how to get quickest divorce or converting your religion to facilitate your divorce. Its about the notion, we often have of other religion and cultures. Many people of other religions believe that a married Muslim can dissolve his marriage at any time by saying "Talaq, Talaq, Talaq" at one occasion of his own free will and desire. Talaq means - I divorce you.

Triple Talaq is a controversial Sunni Islamic procedure whereby a husband can divorce his wife by saying to her "talaq, talaq, talaq".

But there are misconception about how a husband divorces his wife, and whether pronouncement of divorce three times at once is valid.

Did you know that in Islam -

1. Talaq/Divorce is strongly condemned
2. It is recommended that in case of difficulties within the marriage that the husband and wife cannot solve by themselves, each shall appoint an arbitrator to resolve the matter.

The triple pronouncement of talaq has been banned by law in many nations including - Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Iran, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. India is one of the country that still permits it.

I imagine many of us, looking out of the window pondering, 'wish we had the same in our laws, no worried of loosing our inheritance no worry of prenups' - but hey we can't be selfish, how the lawyers would have managed to put the bread and butter on their table or for that matter drive a Ferrari.

Now this is interesting, did you know - divorce rates in US has dropped significantly since 1980 and so is the marriage rate (50% drop since 1970).

Date Rape

As you have noticed most articles we write, have some sort of humor attached. This subject is as heinous as it sound. Academy award winner Helen Mirren was recently in news when she publicly admitted she was date raped 40 years back. There has been lots of criticism around her statement - "If a woman engaged in sexual activity but said no at the last second, she did not think the woman can have that man into court".

The way we acted and reacted upon sensitive issues like rape 40 years back has undergone a complete metamorphosis and such views violate the current orthodoxy that, when it comes to sexual consent, no means no.

People say that those who have been raped were somehow "asking for it" because of the clothes they wore or the way they acted. That's wrong and I personally find it ridiculous. Whether there is sexual provocation or alcohol or drugs involved it doesn't matter, if you violate someone or involve in sexual acts without consent that's rape. Recently in news, was this guy who look for people in Match.com and PlentyOfFish.com, then invite them to his home for dinner and would drug them by mixing something in their drink and eventually rape them.

Did you know that there is a product that has made date-rape drugs less threatening to American women, the Drink Safe Coaster, created by Drink Safe Technologies, Inc., can detect if GHB, Ketamine or other common date rape drugs have contaminated beverages. Now will a product like this is going to reduce date rape, probably not but its good to know that there is collective thought process and people are thinking on solutions for safe dating experiences.

Christian Bale alias Bruce Wayne, Batman's rich alter ego has added a cool half a billion dollars to his riches.

“The Dark Knight” on Sunday became the second movie in Hollywood history after Titanic to top $500 million at the domestic box office, raising its total to $502.4 million, according to estimates from distributor Warner Bros.

Christian Charles Philip Bale popularly known as Christian Bale, was born on 30 January 1974, to South African-born entrepreneur, commercial pilot, and talent manager David Bale and circus clown and performer Jenny James, both of English heritage. Bale first caught the public eye when he was cast in the starring role of Spielberg's Empire of the Sun at the age of 13.

Did you know that he went to the extent of loosing 60 pounds, by placing himself on a crash diet of coffee and apples for his role in the psychological thriller The Machinist. and then gained 100 pounds over a period of 6 months for his role as Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins.
